In the days following 9/11, President Bush assured America and the world that Islam was a "religion of peace" and that the violent followers of Osama Bin Laden had twisted the true Muslim faith. Acting on this belief, President Bush and other Western leaders sent troops to the Middle East in an effort to bring freedom and democracy to the Muslim world.

But what if this "understanding" of Islam is based not on fact, but instead on equal parts wishful thinking and Islamic deceit? It would mean that the entire War on Terror is based on a faulty – and increasingly deadly – premise.

Especially outspoken Democratic members of Congress who protested the federal intervention for Schiavo were Henry Waxman, Robert Wexler, Barney Frank, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.  Prior to and in the wake of Schiavo's death, politically motivated end of life legislation has been proposed in at least ten states. These bills address the right to die as well as the right to life.  States where new end of life legislation has been proposed include South Dakota

In an article titled "Jimmy Carter's Jewish Problem," Jason Maoz, senior editor at Jewish Press, reveals that "during a March 1980 meeting with his senior political advisers, Carter, discussing his fading reelection prospects and his sinking approval rating in the Jewish community, snapped, 'If I get back in, I'm going to [expletive] the Jews.'"
