TEHRAN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Iranian troops have shot
down a U.S. pilotless spy plane recently, an Iranian lawmaker announced on
Tuesday as the Islamic Republic was facing increasing military pressure from its
arch rival -- the United States.
I don't see this being reported anywhere else so it remains to be seen if the article is valid. All we need now is for someone in Iran to kidnap an American soldier and we'll have ourselves a shootin' war.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - A federal appeals court vacated a 22-year prison sentence on Tuesday against "millennium bomber" Ahmed Ressam, the Algerian convicted of plotting to blow up Los Angeles International Airport. Ahmed Ressam was arrested as he tried to enter the U.S. with 124 pounds of bomb-making materials in his rental car.
This is the same notorious 9th Circuit Court in San Francisco that is known to be the most liberal, the most overturned of all the appellate courts in the United States.

Fidel Castro has had at least three failed operations and complications from an intestinal infection, and the Cuban leader faces "a very grave prognosis," a Spanish newspaper reported Tuesday. A Cuban diplomat in Madrid said the reports were lies and declined to comment.
"It's another lie and we are not going to talk about it. If anyone has to talk about Castro's illness, it's Havana," the diplomat said, speaking on condition of anonymity because of official policy.

Commentary: Why Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican
by

It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism.

The letter "X" soon may be banned in Saudi Arabia because it resembles the mother of all banned religious symbols in the oil kingdom: the cross.
The new development came with the issuing of another mind-bending fatwa, or religious edict, by the infamous Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice — the group of senior Islamic clergy that reigns supreme on all legal, civil, and governance matters in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Casual sex is a con: women just aren't like men

The Sixties generation thought everything should be free. But only a few decades later the hippies were selling water at rock festivals for $5 a bottle. But for me the price of “free love” was even higher.
I sacrificed what should have been the best years of my life for the black lie of free love. All the sex I ever had — and I had more than my fair share — far from bringing me the lasting relationship I sought, only made marriage a more distant prospect.

American Airlines’ pilots union is calling “outrageous” a precedent-setting jury verdict punishing the carrier for ejecting a passenger a flight crew deemed suspicious.
“Pilots have not forgotten” 9/11, said Capt. Denny Breslin, spokesman for the Allied Pilots Association. “It’s a sad day when you lose to political correctness.”
In the first post-9/11 case of its kind to reach trial, a federal jury in Boston awarded $400,000 to a Portuguese computer consultant on Friday for being profiled as a potential terrorist by an American Airlines [AMR] flight crew headed to Fort Lauderdale from LoganInternationalAirport on Dec. 28, 2003.

Iran's hardline president, touring Latin America in search of an alliance of "revolutionary countries," said the U.S. is trying to hide its failures in Iraq by accusing his nation of funding insurgents there.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ducked a direct question by reporters Sunday about whether Iran was arming and supporting insurgents responsible for countless attacks in Iraq.
Speaking on the sidelines of his meeting with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, Ahmadinejad said the charges were merely an attempt by the United States "to cover their failures by other means."
