View Article  Krauthammer: Tenet Rewriting History

George Tenet has a very mixed legacy. On the one hand, he presided over the two biggest intelligence failures of this era -- Sept. 11 and the WMD debacle in Iraq. On the other hand, his CIA did devise and carry out brilliantly an astonishingly bold plan to overthrow the Taliban in Afghanistan. Tenet might have just left it at that, gone home with his Presidential Medal of Freedom and let history judge him.

View Article  Bartender's Review: Spider-Man 3? It Rocked...

First, to enjoy a feature like this, realize this is sci-fi/ comic adaptation at its best.  This is Not a chick flick, this is not Citizen Kane. If you go with that perspective, you will find it to a great and entertaining film. I’m a fan of all those characters/ that genre… as a kid I read Spiderman, X-Men, F4, etc.  and liked them all… And the usual cameo from Stan Lee is longer than usual.

But this was well done… good story, good morals to the story/s (SEVERAL of those)

Too understand Spider-Man 3 you have to ask the question; who’s your daddy?  Thomas Hayden Church’s Flint Marko/ Sandman is a small time thief who is driven by his love for his sick daughter… he makes some bad choices in trying to be a good dad.  Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/ Spider-Man constantly reflects on the lesson’s taught him by his working class uncle, Ben.  And Harry Osborn continues with his psychotic episodes regarding his late, and also psychotic, dad.

AND someone decided to be brave and show some serious religious symbolism at a few points…  *spoiler* When our hero finds that he has REALLY become a self-centered, mean spirited jerk, he goes to a church to get ‘straightened out…’ and the symbolism is unmistakable… I was surprised Leftwing Hollywood would do something like that… so, I always like it when they do something creative AND non-Politically Correct…

One complaint and one only: *spoiler* Kirsten Dunst’s character of Mary Jane Watson is once again used to lure Spider-man into a trap… please, this is the third time… try something new on the next one guys…

BTW- I went to the midnight showing here in town because I decided I would give my 13 year old son some serious “7th Grade Street Cred… ” None of his classmates believed him when he said he was going to go see SM-3 at for the midnight showing… so… we came home, went to bed about 8… got up at 11:30… saw SM-3 and enjoyed all the hardcore fans in their outfits... one guy looked pretty good in the black spidey suit...  wish I would have had a camera.

Very cool film… well worth seeing…
