Thousands of Hondurans, Nicaraguans and Salvadorans in Southern California and across the United States who are here under temporary protected status have been granted an 18-month extension, officials said.
Hondurans and Nicaraguans who received protected status after Hurricane Mitch devastated their countries with floods and mudslides in 1998 were due to return home after July 5. Salvadorans who were granted the same status in 2001 after massive earthquakes shook El Salvador were scheduled to lose their privileges Sept. 9.
Months after a politically embarrassing $1 billion shortfall that put veterans' health care in peril, Veterans Affairs officials involved in the foul-up got hefty bonuses ranging up to $33,000… …Among those receiving payments were a deputy assistant secretary and several regional directors who crafted the VA's flawed budget for 2005 based on misleading accounting. They received performance payments up to $33,000 each, a figure equal to about 20 percent of their annual salaries.
This girl was stoned to death for liking a boy with a different religion. This is why we need to get out of Iraq. They're barbaric morons and cannot be helped.
Banned From YouTube? In the new digital media age, damning political videos can have an immediate impact on campaign 2.0, thanks largely to the availability and immediacy of YouTube.
George Tenet has a very mixed legacy. On the one hand, he presided over the two biggest intelligence failures of this era -- Sept. 11 and the WMD debacle in Iraq. On the other hand, his CIA did devise and carry out brilliantly an astonishingly bold plan to overthrow the Taliban in Afghanistan. Tenet might have just left it at that, gone home with his Presidential Medal of Freedom and let history judge him.
Being a proponent for conservative values can be tough on a campus where many students and faculty don't identify with your political views, but according to Amanda Short, president of the College Republicans, and Brad Easterbrooks, former editor-in-chief of the Observer and vice president of the College Republicans, it is worth it.
"The extermination of Jews is Allah’s will and is for the benefit of all humanity, according to an article in the Hamas paper, Al-Risalah. The author of the article, Kan'an Ubayd, explains that the suicide operations carried out by Hamas are being committed solely to fulfill Allah’s wishes. Furthermore, Allah demanded this action, because “the extermination of the Jews is good for the inhabitants of the worlds.”
I watched the Republican Presidential Candidates Debate broadcast live from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., and was left thinking Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson came away clear winners.
Story of Muslim young men in Jordan who desperately want death for themselves. “I am happy for them but I cry for myself because I couldn’t do it yet,” said Abu Ibrahim. “I want to spread the roots of God on this earth and free the land of occupiers. I don’t love anything in this world. What I care about is fighting"
First, to enjoy a feature like this, realize this is sci-fi/ comic adaptation at its best. This is Not a chick flick, this is not Citizen Kane. If you go with that perspective, you will find it to a great and entertaining film. I’m a fan of all those characters/ that genre… as a kid I read Spiderman, X-Men, F4, etc. and liked them all… And the usual cameo from Stan Lee is longer than usual.
But this was well done… good story, good morals to the story/s (SEVERAL of those)
Too understand Spider-Man 3 you have to ask the question; who’s your daddy?Thomas Hayden Church’s Flint Marko/ Sandman is a small time thief who is driven by his love for his sick daughter… he makes some bad choices in trying to be a good dad.Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker/ Spider-Man constantly reflects on the lesson’s taught him by his working class uncle, Ben.And Harry Osborn continues with his psychotic episodes regarding his late, and also psychotic, dad.
AND someone decided to be brave and show some serious religious symbolism at a few points…*spoiler* When our hero finds that he has REALLY become a self-centered, mean spirited jerk, he goes to a church to get ‘straightened out…’ and the symbolism is unmistakable… I was surprised Leftwing Hollywood would do something like that… so, I always like it when they do something creative AND non-Politically Correct…
One complaint and one only: *spoiler* Kirsten Dunst’s character of Mary Jane Watson is once again used to lure Spider-man into a trap… please, this is the third time… try something new on the next one guys…
BTW- I went to the midnight showing here in town because I decided I would give my 13 year old son some serious “7th Grade Street Cred… ” None of his classmates believed him when he said he was going to go see SM-3 at for the midnight showing… so… we came home, went to bed about 8… got up at 11:30… saw SM-3 and enjoyed all the hardcore fans in their outfits... one guy looked pretty good in the black spidey suit... wish I would have had a camera.
