Alcee Hastings: Hastings got appointed to the federal bench by Jimmy Carter in 1979. In less than two years, he got indicted for soliciting a bribe in an FBI sting. In 1983, he won an acquittal, but a subsequent House investigation found that he had committed perjury in that trial. The House Judiciary Committee authorized a whopping seventeen counts for impeachment against Hastings in 1988. (Hat Tip banniNation.com for the Headline)

On her website, Feinstein claims that the cost of not having an unending supply of cheap foreign farm workers is:
“ … In the stratosphere: if the labor shortage continues, it means $3 billion a year in the short term and as much as $4.1 billion a year in the long-term. Just in California.”
Feinstein conveniently omits any breakdown on how she calculated those deficits.

When Michael Wallace
withdrew for the Fifth Circuit after Democratic objections, the White House
nominated Judge Southwick as an act of bipartisan good faith.
So much for that. His
nomination looked safe enough until two weeks ago, when liberal critics, having
scoured his 7,000-plus rulings on the Mississippi
appeals bench, uncovered two allegedly hanging offenses. Both were about words
that the judge himself never uttered but were contained in decisions he
joined--one involving homosexuals, the other race.

Fred Thompson: A Story of Vigilance
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Fri 08 Jun 2007 12:25 AM EDT
Most Americans take the
charge of racism very seriously -- as they should. It becomes a problem,
though, if false accusations are used to keep us from reporting suspicious
activities. It looked for a while that legislation to protect sincere
whistleblowers from lawsuits would never make it to a vote. The chair of the
House Homeland Security Committee held up the legislation, saying it would
promote racial and religious profiling. Fortunately, he’s changed his mind. I'm
happy about that and congratulate him. I'll be happier, though, when the bill
is enacted.
