For several days now, WND has been hounding Barack Obama's campaign about a statement he made July 2 in Colorado Springs – a statement that blew my mind, one that has had me scratching my head ever since. In talking about his plans to double the size of the Peace Corps and nearly quadruple the size of AmeriCorps and the size of the nation's military services, he made this rather shocking (and chilling) pledge: "We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded." Certainly there have been initiatives like this elsewhere – Cuba, the Soviet Union, China, Venezuela, North Korea. But has anything like this ever been proposed in a free country? More>>>

Jason Grumet is currently executive director of an outfit called the National Commission on Energy Policy and one of Mr. Obama's key policy aides. In an interview last week with Bloomberg, Mr. Grumet said that come January the Environmental Protection Agency "would initiate those rulemakings" that classify carbon as a dangerous pollutant under current clean air laws. That move would impose new regulation and taxes across the entire economy, something that is usually the purview of Congress. Mr. Grumet warned that "in the absence of Congressional action" 18 months after Mr. Obama's inauguration, the EPA would move ahead with its own unilateral carbon crackdown anyway. Well, well. For years, Democrats -- including Senator Obama -- have been howling about the "politicization" of the EPA, which has nominally been part of the Bush Administration. The complaint has been that the White House blocked EPA bureaucrats from making the so-called "endangerment finding" on carbon. Now it turns out that a President Obama would himself wield such a finding as a political bludgeon. He plans to issue an ultimatum to Congress: Either impose new taxes and limits on carbon that he finds amenable, or the EPA carbon police will be let loose to ravage the countryside. More>>>

After a slew of television and radio appearances, where he kept his cool and entranced the nation with his obvious grasp on how bigger government hurts the average American, the media made sure that we began to find out unsavory tidbits about Joe: his given name is Samuel; he has a tax lien; and he calls himself a plumber when he doesn’t have a license — even though his employer has one. And, maybe most egregious of all, didn’t Joe know that the local plumber’s union supports Obama? (I received an email to that effect from an anonymous union rep.) Heaven forbid he should think for himself. Even his divorce records were considered fair game. More>>>

Listen to the end of the interview… I watched McCain on FNS this past Sunday morning… Chris Wallace gave him some excellent opportunities to go after the media, to call them to task for attacking his wife, covering for Obama, smearing Palin, etc. These questions could have turned into home runs and in my opinion the good senator didn’t even get on base. His biggest problem (and I’ve seen this before) is that he is running ‘not to lose.’ He’s ‘thrilled’ with his life. He’s rich, a senator and if he loses on November 4th, what’s the Big Deal? The ‘Big Deal’ is that people like us, and our kids, will have to live with the Socialism that will be shoved down our throats. We’ll have to accept a man in Barack Obama who couldn’t even get a security clearance in the military do to his shady associations. And the list goes on… I’m real happy McCain’s life is so wonderful, but if he doesn’t get some ‘fire in his belly’ we’ll be the ones dealing with an Obama Presidency and a Leftwing Congress that was directly responsible for the current financial crisis. And I can practically guaranty an Obama White House is going to be a far worse travesty on this nation than almost any prior President with the notable exception of James Buchanan... -Riley

FTA "A U.K. chef found guilty of brutally stabbing and murdering his former lover and frying up pieces of the man’s flesh will spend at least 30 years behind bars. Anthony Morley, 36, a former Mr. Gay U.K., claims that Damien Oldfield, 33, tried to rape him at his home and that the killing was done in self-defense." Wow, that's a tough story to swallow. Amazing how this guy thought he could reach around the legal system and eat his boyfriend with a side of tossed salad... More>>>

"The animated sitcom 'Family Guy' is no stranger to controversy, but on Sunday night the show went into uncharted territory as it seemed to weigh in on the presidential race by likening the McCain/Palin ticket to the Nazi party in World War II." In case you haven't figured it out, kill your television... get yourself a good CD collection and enjoy that... More>>>

How sweet of Daily Kos. Back in April of 2004 Daily Kos's love did not extend at all for General Powell. In fact, it was downright nasty:
Uncle Tom Powell Stumps for Massah Bush Yes suh! Yes suh! Right away suh! Mr. Powell sir, you are a liar and an apologist for a crooked regime known as the George W. Bush administration. Charges of "RINO", "limp-wristed republican", "Rockefeller republican", and "squish" are likely among the names to be thrown at Powell from the conservative base, but John McCain has been receiving that treatment from the conservative establishment too. As Barack Obama reaped a stunning $150 million in campaign donations in September, bringing his total to more than $600 million, new questions have arisen about the source of his amazing funding. By Obama’s own admission, more than half of his contributions have come from small donors giving $200 or less. But unlike John McCain’s campaign, Obama won’t release the names of these donors. This center-right country is about to vastly strengthen a liberal Congress whose approval rating is 10 percent and implant in Washington a regime further to the left than any in U.S. history. Consider.
As of today, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco Democrat, anticipates gains of 15-30 seats. Sen. Harry Reid, whose partisanship grates even on many in his own party, may see his caucus expand to a filibuster-proof majority where he can ignore Republican dissent. Headed for the White House is the most left-wing member of the Senate, according to the National Journal. To the vice president's mansion is headed Joe Biden, third-most liberal as ranked by the National Journal, ahead of No. 4, Vermont Socialist Bernie Sanders. What will this mean to America? An administration that is either at war with its base or at war with the nation. More>>> |
