THE execution by firing squad of the Bali bombers - Mukhlas, Imam Samudra and Amrozi - is set to go ahead within a fortnight. Indonesia's Attorney-General says he will reveal the details by Friday next week.
Under Indonesian law these announcements can only be made after the executions have taken place.
It is just over six years since two bombs ripped through the Sari Club and Paddy's Bar on Bali's popular tourist strip of Kuta Beach, killing 202 people, including 88 Australians.

Hansen: Still a Media Darling
by

on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:54 AM EDT
A month ago, Planet Gore reported that NASA climatologist James Hansen, a leading voice in proclaiming man’s role in climate change and a close advisor of Al Gore, had sided with the radical environmental group Greenpeace in advocating eco-vandalism to save the planet. Hansen’s controversial testimony at a London trial in support of activists accused of causing $60,000 in property damage to an English coal facility brought immediate condemnation from some in the science community.

"Spread the Wealth," Thinking Caused Economic Meltdown
by

on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:47 AM EDT
Those who applaud Barack Obama's "spread the wealth" communist blatherings ignore the fact that pity pot communists in Washington, D.C., caused the economic meltdown which has terrorized America and the entire world for several weeks.
Indeed, communists in Democrat clothing demanded that mortgage loans be approved and executed for people not qualified for home ownership. Spreading the wealth meant a concentrated effort by government to provide housing for minorities and low income people by waiving prudent underwriting rules, regardless of risk.

Democratic Rep. John Murtha said Monday some of his constituents in western Pennsylvania are "rednecks" and the entire region just five to 10 years ago was "really redneck."
The comments come one week after he called his own constituents "racist" in an interview with his local newspaper.

Obscure Tax Breaks Increase Cost of Financial Rescue
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:31 AM EDT
The $700 billion financial rescue package approved by Congress to shore up banks also carries a parallel bailout of the financial sector and other industries through a series of obscure tax breaks
Operating mostly under the radar screen, Congress, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service have been rolling back various provisions of the tax code to help out industries and investors caught up in the turmoil.
The most costly -- and most controversial -- of the moves provide billions in extra tax relief to big banks such as Wells Fargo & Co. and Spain's Banco Santander SA. Another change gives aid to investors stung by the auction-rate securities meltdown. Still another shift relaxes tax rules to help big multinationals bring back cash from overseas.
The total sums involved aren't clear, but the cost will easily amount to tens of billions of dollars, tax experts say.

Time to Use the "C" Word
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:18 AM EDT
I am tired of all the dancing around the subject with respect to Barack Obama’s political, social, and economic views. He’s not a “liberal,” or a “Democrat,” or a “progressive,” or even a “socialist.” Let’s call it what it is, shall we? It’s time to use the “C” word. His policies are communist, pure and simple.
Even without the power of the Presidency, a filibuster-proof Senate, and U.S. Supreme Court appointments under his belt, Obama has already:
* called for a national citizen military force;
* sent government agents to intimidate American citizens who have said they don’t agree with him and will not vote for him;
* tried to use the offices of state Attorneys General to silence any opposition or dissent;
* offered questionable “support” for the Second Amendment “right to bear arms” – as long as it isn’t in self-defense;
* proposed his version of “from each according to his ability, to each according to his need;” (plumbers – plumbers, for pity’s sake, should pay more taxes???)
* trained, funded and utilized organizations like ACORN that are notorious for voter registration fraud;
* consorted with and funded terrorists and anti-American radicals;
* attended a church led by a racist, black supremacist, anti-American bigot;
* been mentored by Frank Marshall Davis, who was apparently not only a Communist and a bigot, but also a pervert, and who warned Obama not to go off to college or fall for “equal opportunity and the American way and all that s***.”

Class act Jon Stewart to Sarah Palin: '[Expletive] You.'

Speaking to a college audience in Boston, Mass. Friday, "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart used his stand-up routine to respond to Sarah Palin's comments about "pro-America" parts of the country, shedding the profanity restrictions that govern his Comedy Central show.
"She said that small towns, that's the part of the country she really likes going to because that's the pro-America part of the country. You know, I just want to say to her, just very quickly: [expletive] you," Stewart said to raucous applause.

No Righting Voting Wrongs in Ohio
by

on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:09 AM EDT
Topping the list of most important legal cases this election year may be one in which the Supreme Court did not rule, and about which the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) turned a blind eye to justice. Rampant voter fraud may well result.
The nation’s highest court ruled Friday that, for now, a federal district court cannot force Ohio’s Secretary of State to enforce federal elections laws that she is flagrantly ignoring.

Why should America elect Barack Obama as an apology to the rest of the world?
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Tue 21 Oct 2008 09:04 AM EDT
"We owe the rest of the world an apology for the last eight years. We can start to make it up by electing Barack Obama." Those words, spoken to a Daily Telegraph reporter by a lawyer interviewed in Tampa, Florida, chillingly illustrate the strain of masochistic insanity that seems to have gripped part of the American electorate. So, now we know what this election is really about. It is not about helping the Joes - Six-Pack or the Plumber - in Peoria. It is about appeasing the Fritzes in Düsseldorf, the Ivans in Moscow and the Wus in Beijing.

What Biden Implied

John McCain took note Monday of Joe Biden’s remarks the day before at a Seattle fundraiser (where Biden apparently didn’t realize at first there were media present). But there’s more McCain could say. Here’s McCain, in Belton, Missouri: Just last night, Senator Biden guaranteed that if Senator Obama is elected, we will have an international crisis to test America’s new President. We don’t want a President who invites testing from the world at a time

The Dangers of a Diminished America
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Tue 21 Oct 2008 08:53 AM EDT
With the global financial system in serious trouble, is America's geostrategic dominance likely to diminish? If so, what would that mean?
In the face of this onrushing river of red ink, both Barack Obama and John McCain have been reluctant to lay out what portions of their programmatic wish list they might defer or delete. Only Joe Biden has suggested a possible reduction -- foreign aid. This would be one of the few popular cuts, but in budgetary terms it is a mere grain of sand. Still, Sen. Biden's comment hints at where we may be headed: toward a major reduction in America's world role, and perhaps even a new era of financially-induced isolationism
