View Article  Obama donor ordered Big Brother probe of Joe the Plumber

Following the third presidential debate, a state agency director and maximum donor to the Barack Obama presidential campaign immediately authorized a government background check of Joe the Plumber's child-support records.

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and a $2,500 contributor to the Obama campaign, permitted state employees to conduct a check on Samuel Joseph Worzelbacher, the Columbus Dispatch reported.

View Article  Ben Shapiro: The Jewish Case Against Barack Obama, Pts I, II, and III
(Editorial note: Fox News reported today that, at a rally earlier Tuesday, Joe "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher agreed with a claim from an audience member that "a vote for Barack Obama is a vote for the death to Israel." Later, on Fox's "Studio B" segment, Shepard Smith pressed Wurzelbacher for specifics. The plumber cited Obama's willingness to talk unconditionally with countries like Iran, but was unable to further articulate the reason for his ambivalence. After the interview, Smith claimed that Obama has "repeatedly" claimed that "Israel will be a friend to the United States" and that (referring to the concerns of people like Wurzelbacher) "the rest of it...man...sometimes it just gets frightening". Well, maybe we can help Shep along because those concerns don't just formulate in a vacuum. Commentator Ben Shapiro provides his insights into why he believes an Obama presidency would be dangerous for the Jewish state. -Roland)

Obama’s foreign policy advisors have been almost uniformly anti-Israel. Samantha Power, one of Obama’s earliest supporters, has suggested that American troops be placed on the ground in Israel to protect Palestinian Arabs against “human rights abuses.” Power was a senior foreign policy advisor to Obama until she was forced to resign after calling Senator Hillary Clinton “a monster” in March 2008.

Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s National Security Advisor, serves as a foreign policy advisor to Obama. He believes that the Jewish lobby forces America into pro-Israel policy, and he defends Carter’s anti-Semitic book, “Peace, Not Apartheid.”

General Merrill McPeak, Obama’s campaign co-chair, agrees with Brzezinski that the Jewish lobby, based in “New York City, Miami,” controls America’s Middle East policy.

Robert Malley, who served on President Clinton’s National Security Council, has stated that America ought to simply impose its Middle East solution on Israel. He served as an advisor to Obama until the media discovered that he was holding regular meetings with Hamas.

Obama’s friends, too, are far too anti-Israel for comfort. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s pastor of 20 years, has blamed America’s pro-Israel policy for 9/11. Wright is close with notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan, who has proclaimed Obama “the Messiah.”

View Article  Bob Kerrey: Dems' Campaign-Finance Hypocrisy

ON the question of public fund ing of presidential cam paigns, we Democrats who strongly support Sen. Barack Obama's candidacy and who previously supported limits on campaign spending and who haven't objected to Obama's opting out of the presidential funding system face an awkward fact: Either we are hypocrites, or we were wrong to support such limitations in the first place. The next time we speak of the virtue of level playing fields

View Article  Tough times: Congress grew 13 percent richer in 2007

Times are tough, but don't worry about most members of Congress making ends meet.

Their collective wealth grew by 13 percent last year, leaving them in better shape than most Americans to make it through an economic downturn, according to a new analysis of personal financial reports.

Overall, nearly two of every three senators are millionaires. That includes presidential candidates Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. In the House, 39 percent of all members belong to the exclusive club.

Only 1 percent of all Americans are considered millionaires.

View Article  Sources: Sarkozy views Obama stance on Iran as 'utterly immature'

French President Nicolas Sarkozy is very critical of U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama's positions on Iran, according to reports that have reached Israel's government. Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."

View Article  Obama Affinity to Marxists Dates Back to College Days

Barack Obama laughs off charges of socialism. Joe Biden scoffs at references to Marxism. Both men shrug off accusations of liberalism.

But Obama himself acknowledges that he was drawn to socialists and even Marxists as a college student. He continued to associate with Marxists later in life, even choosing to launch his political career in the living room of a self-described Marxist, William Ayers, in 1995, when Obama was 34.

View Article  NewsBusters: Monday Night Fights: FNC's Megyn Kelly vs. Obama's Bill Burton

In response to the Sunday evening revelations concerning the socialist, wealth redistribution views expressed by Barack Obama in 2001, the Obama campaign issued a statement blaming ''the all too common alliance of Fox News, the Drudge Report and John McCain.'' This didn't sit very well with Fox News's Megyn Kelly who on Monday invited Obama's national press secretary Bill Burton on ''America's Election Headquarters'' to defend these allegations.

(The 'Fox News only parrots the McCain campaign/RNC talking points' narrative is really getting old. -Roland)

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) – a Carter-era policy that requires federal financial supervisory agencies to encourage banks to grant loans to people with low income and little credit – played a major role in sparking the sub-prime mortgage crisis the nation now faces, according to economist Russell Roberts, who spoke at a forum on the issue Thursday at the Hudson Institute
