The Repugnance of Socialism
by

Earlier this year I read a column in which the writer rejoiced because the word, ''socialism,'' is no longer a scary bogeyman to Americans. When I Googled the writer and learned he was only 31 and graduated from Columbia, it wasn't hard to figure out how he got it all wrong. Since he had clearly been taught our ''revised'' history -- the one that glosses over the 100,000,000-grave killing fields of the communists

...Meet Oleg Atbashian, a former agitprop artist from the Soviet Union. The posters, the banners, the slogans. He's one of the many people who created the Soviet Union's symbols and political sloganeering, all that Workers Paradise stuff we hated, the kind of cliched posters Barack Obama's campaign is producing. It's true the change for Americaleft relies on symbolism over substance. They have to. It's all they have. Symbols, speeches, posters, politically correct language and harangues...

The condemned inmate, his body torn apart by guard dogs, slumped unconscious as the three executioners fired. The bullets shattered his skull, splattering blood near other prisoners forced to watch.
His offense: trying to escape from the remote prison camp in North Korea.
"People were seized with fear but no one could say anything," former prisoner Jung Gyoung-il said, recalling the 2001 execution. "That's worse than the way animals are slaughtered."

Don't Let the Polls Affect Your Vote
by

There has been an explosion of polls this presidential election. Through yesterday, there have been 728 national polls with head-to-head matchups of the candidates, 215 in October alone. In 2004, there were just 239 matchup polls, with 67 of those in October. At this rate, there may be almost as many national polls in October of 2008 as there were during the entire year in 2004.
Some polls are sponsored by reputable news organizations, others by publicity-eager universities or polling firms on the make. None have the scientific precision we imagine.

Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, disclosed today that computer inquiries on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher were not restricted to a child-support system.
The agency also checked Wurzelbacher in its computer systems to determine whether he was receiving welfare assistance or owed unemployment compensation taxes, she wrote.

"Joe the Plumber" has contacted a lawyer but is uncertain whether he will sue over government workers rummaging through his records on state computer systems. "When I first found out, I was pretty angry, and I still am," Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher said yesterday in Columbus during his first campaign appearance on behalf of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

Obama is Bought, But Who Owns Him?

Editor's Note: Paul Hollrah, Senior Fellow of the Lincoln Heritage Foundation, on KFI's John Batchelor Show Sunday night, called the Obama campaign's donation scandal "a huge and massive crime" that will likely never be followed up on. Why? If past is prologue, neither the Bush Administration, the FEC, or the FBI will show any interest in to looking into an operation that is so vast, it would take an army of lawyers to prosecute. -Roland
In July, Obama boasted that, as of May 31, his contributor base numbered some 1.5 million people, with one-fourth, or $66.25 million of his $265 million, coming from those contributing $2,000, or more... some 33,200 people. Thus, the remainder, or $198.75 million, came from some 1.47 million people, each contributing $5, $10, $20... or, as Obama assured us, “whatever they could afford.”
While it is true that Obama is the kind of guy who could read Bill Clinton’s golf scorecard and make it sound convincing, simple arithmetic should have told him that $198.75 million dollars cannot be contributed by 1.47 million people in “$5, $10, or $20” amounts. Each of those 1.47 million people would have had to contribute, on average, $135 to create a pool of $198.75 million... and that simply does not happen. It has never happened before in American politics and it is not happening now.
In a Statement of Facts in the recent criminal trial of former UBS executive Bradley Birkenfeld, it was alleged that UBS took extraordinary steps to help American clients manage their Swiss accounts without alerting federal authorities. For example, UBS advised American clients to avoid detection by using Swiss credit cards to withdraw funds, to destroy all existing off-shore banking records, and to misrepresent the receipt of funds from their Swiss accounts as loans from the Swiss bank. According to The Nation, UBS established an elaborate training program which taught bank employees how to avoid surveillance by U.S. Customs and law enforcement, falsify visas, encrypt communications, and secretly move money in and out of the country... ”
It is the perfect instrument for funneling illegal campaign contributions into the coffers of an unscrupulous American politician.

Authorities at the University of Kentucky are trying to find out who hung an effigy of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on campus.
College spokesman Carl Nathe said it was found hanging from a tree Wednesday morning. Police immediately took it down.
School President Lee Todd says that he plans to personally apologize to the Obama family on behalf of the university and that he is "personally offended and deeply embarrassed by this disgusting episode."
(Would that Governor Palin's family had been extended the same consideration. Orwellian, indeed - Roland)

What Obama Really Means by 'Change'
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Thu 30 Oct 2008 12:08 AM EDT
I had a shocking conversation with a well-informed voter the other day. She asked about Barack Obama's “tax cut for 95 percent of Americans.” I laughed, noting that it was going to be quite a trick to give a “tax cut” to the roughly 40 percent of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes.
“What?” She asked.
It stopped me dead in my tracks.
