While there has been no specific research on the phenomenon of women owning lifelike doll babies, I am glad to weigh in on the psychological underpinnings.

People often have a negative reaction when they hear about these lifelike babies, sometimes called “reborn” babies or “memory” babies.

As a soon to be "empty nester" myself, it makes sense to me how someone suffering from depression or other mental condition might be having trouble dealing with the situation and go off the deep end a bit.

Instead of ridiculing them though, encourage someone like this to become active in their community or church. They need to be busy. Helps in coping with the loneliness/emptiness.
