Obama's Contempt For The Constitution

Selwyn Duke, in The American Thinker, writes, "Leftists ... could attempt to change the Constitution so that it reflects their agenda, but this is a long, drawn-out, difficult process that requires, of all things, actual public support for your aims. And it's easier to change the courts - and install 'ideological' justices who will impose left-wing orthodoxy from the bench - than the will of the subjects. Consider that liberals are ever trying to destroy tradition, as it stands in the way of progressivism. Consider that a consistent definition of liberalism - one that epitomizes the modern left (those progressives) - involves the desire to change the status quo. So what it means is that, by definition, a liberal who understands the Constitution cannot believe in it."

Palin Didn't Violate Ethics Rules in Firing, Alaska Panel Says

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, Republican John McCain's running mate, didn't violate ethics rules when she fired the state's public safety commissioner, an investigation for Alaska's Personnel Board concluded.
"There is no probable cause to believe that the governor, or any other state official, violated the Alaska Executive Ethics Act in connection with these matters,'' according to the report issued on the eve of the U.S. presidential election.
Palin had asked the three-person panel charged with investigating ethics complaints against state employees to look at whether she committed any ethics violations in her July 11 firing of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.
Monegan had contended he was dismissed because he had refused to fire a state trooper involved in a divorce and custody battle with Palin's sister. Palin, 44, maintains she fired Monegan over budget disagreements.
The Personnel Board's report also says it found "no probable cause'' to believe that the governor violated state ethics law in pressuring Monegan to fire Trooper Mike Wooten.
Tim Petumenos, the panel's investigator, is a registered Democrat. The Personnel Board is made up of three political appointees, all of whom were named by the previous governor.

Mike Carey, president of the Ohio Coal Association (OCA), today issued the following statement in response to just-released remarks from Senator Barack Obama about the nation's coal industry. "Regardless of the timing or method of the release of these remarks, the message from the Democratic candidate for President could not be clearer: the Obama-Biden ticket spells disaster for America's coal industry and the tens of thousands of Americans who work in it.

On the eve of the presidential election, I have a few last thoughts I’d like to share. First off, I keep hearing people say they don’t know Barack Obama. Oddly enough, I don’t think I’ve ever known a presidential candidate nearly so well...I know that he believes in the Marxist principle of sharing the wealth, and I know that doesn’t refer to his own wealth, but to everybody else’s.

TO: Bill Ayers (bayers@uic.edu) FR: Mike Adams (adams_mike@hotmail.com) Bill, remember when you called the police - the same people you wanted to bomb as a domestic terrorist - to protect you from Jessie Waters of Fox News? Were you at all concerned that they might whip your skinny ass instead of protecting you?
