Worried about gas prices hitting $4 a gallon and beyond? Imagine if they were $6, $7 or even $8 a gallon. Those levels are a certain possibility should Congress pass cap-and-trade legislation, which could face a vote in early June.

From associate justice Baxter’s dissent (joined by associate justice Chin): “Nothing in our Constitution, express or implicit, compels the majority’s startling conclusion that the age-old understanding of marriage … is no longer valid. California statutes already recognize same-sex unions and grant them all the substantive legal rights this state can bestow. If there is to be a further sea change in the social and legal understanding of marriage itself, that evolution should occur by similar democratic means. From associate justice Corrigan’s separate dissent: “The principle of judicial restraint is a covenant between judges and the people from whom their power derives.… It is no answer to say that judges can break the covenant so long as they are enlightened or well-meaning.… If there is to be a new understanding of the meaning of marriage in California, it should develop among the people of our state and find its expression at the ballot box.”

President George W. Bush spoke to the Israeli Knesset on Thursday morning, to mark the nation’s 60th anniversary. The president said: Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along . . . We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.'

Does Hillary Clinton want to be the Democrats vice presidential candidate? Probably. Could she get on the ticket by dropping out before the last states vote on June 3rd? Definitely not. Does Barack Obama want her on the ticket? Absolutely not. Can he stop her if she wants it? Probably not. Why not? Super delegates are why not.

Sen. John McCain, the de facto Republican presidential nominee, announced today he will attend the July 14, 2008 national convention of La Raza, a radical Hispanic lobby tied to the movement to reconquer the Southwestern U.S. that was part of Mexico before the Mexican-American War that ended in 1848. La Raza was condemned in 2006 by Rep. Charles Norwood, R-Ga., as a radical "pro-illegal immigration lobbying organization that supports racist groups calling for the secession of the western United States as a Hispanic-only homeland."

In a speech to the Urban League last July, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., boasted of his efforts in 2001 to help a handful of African American-owned investment firms in Chicago get a larger share of business with Illinois state pension funds. "And in six months, they got about a half-billion dollars' worth of business simply on their excellence," Obama said. What he did not say in his speech was that the owner of one of the investment firms, John Rogers of Ariel Capital, is a principal campaign fundraiser. Nor did he reveal that employees of the firms he helped have since contributed to or helped to raise more than $765,000 for his campaigns, according to campaign documents. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have allowed him to use their private jets. Nor did he mention that two of the firms have since been dismissed by the state pension fund for "underperformance."

Congress sent the White House a huge election-year farm bill Thursday that includes a boost in farm subsidies and more money for food stamps amid rising grocery prices. Bush has threatened to veto the $290 billion bill, saying it is fiscally irresponsible and too generous to wealthy corporate farmers in a time of record crop prices. But Congress disagreed, passing the bill by overwhelming margins in both chambers—enough to override a veto.

"You're right. No one would dare question the real motivation of listing a non-endangered species on an endangered species list..." The decision on Wednesday by the U.S. Interior Department to declare the polar bear a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act is a major victory for environmentalists who have been looking for a back-door legal mechanism to limit carbon-dioxide emissions.
The World Wildlife Fund puts out propaganda ad, claiming polar bears face "extinction", despite the fact that they are at record numbers.

Perhaps the NY Times should abandon Barack Obama on his racist reconciliation tour of blue collar car plants and at the Edwards loser lovefest and take it to TUCC, where real racism resides. Stanley Kurtz, in National Review's May 19th cover story, explores the Rev. Wright's black liberation theology based on the writings of James Cone. At his infamous speech at the National Press Club Wright reaffirmed his reliance on Cone, and Cone has claimed Wright's church exemplifies his beliefs--TUCC, the most radical church in America--Barack Obama's church for 20 years. http://www.uncorrelated.com/2008/05/obamas_hope_based_on_hate.html

From the cover of a brochure used by the Obama campaign.
Yes, the Media will give him a 'pass' on this. Of course, they reviled Huckabee for simply having what appeared to be a cross, which was a bookshelf, in one of his campaign commercials.

The department, in deciding to list the bear as threatened, will cite studies by its own scientists that the decline of Arctic sea ice off Alaska and Canada could result in two-thirds of the polar bears disappearing by mid-century, said federal officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced. Interior Department spokesman Shane Wolfe declined to comment ahead of the formal announcement. Inhofe Says Listing of Polar Bear Based on Politics, Not Science

"You're a country that has I think some of the most generous people I've ever come across in the world"...noting the issue will haunt Americans until there is a way to talk honestly about race, such as holding a reconciliation forum.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Wednesday that Israel is dying and that its 60th anniversary celebrations are an attempt to prevent its "annihilation." He spoke hours after President Bush arrived in Israel for the anniversary celebrations. "The Zionist (Israeli) regime is dying," said Ahmadinejad during a speech in northern Iran. "The criminals assume that by holding celebrations ... they can save the sinister Zionist regime from death and annihilation." Ahmadinejad used an Arabic word, ismihlal, that can also be translated as destruction, death and collapse. |
