Three observations are in order: First, McClellan is begging for the establishment's approbation, particularly the mainstream media. When an ostensible Republican starts whimpering that we have to overcome enmity and work together, he's asking to be loved. He's telling the world that he's not one of those mean, cranky old reactionaries sowing seeds of discord wherever they go. He's enlightened, compassionate and reasonable, and wants to build bridges to those who seek our annihilation... More>>>

Chessani is charged with dereliction of duty and failure to follow a direct order. While he did report the basic facts of the killings to his bosses within hours, prosecutors say he should have been more aggressive in finding out why a squad of Marines in his battalion killed 24 Iraqis after a roadside bomb had killed a Marine. Chessani was not at the scene of the killings. He has said that from the reports he received, it appeared the killings, while tragic, were the result of "troops in contact" with the enemy and thus no further investigation was needed More>>>

"It’s so rapturous, everything around him. All these huge rallies." - John Cowan of Rolling Stone Some guy set up this website, http://obamamessiah.blogspot.com, just to show how COMPLETELY overboard the Obamamites are about Barry. Supporting Obama has become a borderline religion, which is terrifying (and stupid) to say the least. More>>>

Nearly every prominent Democrat in the country has repeated some version of this charge, and the notion that the Bush administration deceived the American people has become the accepted narrative of how we went to war. Yet in spite of all the accusations of White House "manipulation" -- that it pressured intelligence analysts into connecting Hussein and Al Qaeda and concocted evidence about weapons of mass destruction -- administration critics continually demonstrate an inability to distinguish making claims based on flawed intelligence from knowingly propagating falsehoods. This started out as an attempt to create a light and humorous, Letterman-esque Top 10 list. But the items on the list, and the drain Americans are seeing in their pocketbooks because of Democrats' actions (sometimes inaction) are just too tragic for that. More>>>

Karen Weber's descent into limbo began on Florida's Turnpike in November. She and her husband of 34 years, Raymond, had driven to Orlando International Airport to pick up her mother. On the way home to Okeechobee, happy talk about Gracie, the new baby in the family, ended suddenly when Karen had a seizure. Her husband drove quickly to a hospital. More>>>

Sen. John McCain's reputation as a maverick who regularly bucks the conservative wing of his party will be a formidable obstacle for Sen. Barack Obama as he seeks to persuade moderates to vote for him in November. Once dubbed the Democrats' favorite Republican - and the recipient of a gushing endorsement by the liberal New York Times during this year's primary campaign - Mr. McCain's bigger-than-life image as a middle-of-the-road politician is a proven draw of moderates and independents, who are in the position to decide which candidate wins the White House. Teenagers and students have an average of more than 800 illegally copied songs each on their digital music players, the largest academic survey of young people's music ownership has found. The research also showed that half of 14 to 24-year-olds were happy to share all the music on their hard drive, enabling others to copy hundreds, or thousands, of songs at any one time. More>>>

Why does anyone still think that the US economy is in recession? A week ago, this belief acquired a host of new adherents when Jean-Claude Trichet, the European Central Bank President, more or less promised to raise eurozone interest rates on July 3, while US statisticians reported a jump in the unemployment rate from 5 to 5.5 per cent. Financial markets duly bid up the euro and dumped the dollar. This currency move triggered the biggest one-day leap in oil prices on record. This price surge, in turn, confirmed that recent movements in the oil price, which have had a 97percent daily correlation with the dollar-euro exchange rate, have been driven almost entirely by financial players and have had very little to do with energy supply and demand. The method is being developed (in mice, so far) to better understand the architecture of the brain. But Sandberg, who is based at the University of Oxford, has a rather more ambitious aim in mind. For him, this work is merely the first step towards uploading the contents of human brains - memories, emotions and all - onto a computer. Immortality? More>>>

Hillary Clinton's mention of RFK's assassination was the final nail in the coffin of her candidacy. Along similar lines, can you imagine the howls of MSM outrage if John McCain were to suggest that he might "bring a gun" to his campaign against Barack Obama? More>>>

A single cell is the most awesomely sophisticated molecular machine yet produced. A self-directing, self-replicating micro-factory capable of complex constructions, automated repair and even (like all good sci-fi-sounding devices) self-destruct. The first cells, however, were much less "complex mechanisms" and significantly more "Shake and Bake" - a model that we're now ready to build ourselves. More>>>
