What happens when an ambidextrous pitcher faces off against a switch-hitting batter?
This may sound like an abstract philosophical query along the lines of "If a tree falls in the forest...," but on Thursday night in Brooklyn this baffling conundrum became all too real.

"This was not a secret meeting," said Rafael Rivadeneira, a vice chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois, who was among more than 150 Chicago-area Hispanic leaders who attended. "There was nothing he said that they wouldn't want people to hear."
Other attendees said they were not so sure.
"He's one John McCain in front of white Republicans. And he's a different John McCain in front of Hispanics," complained Rosanna Pulido, a Hispanic and conservative Republican who attended the meeting.

Why Do We Call Them 'Democrats'?
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Sat 21 Jun 2008 06:12 PM EDT
We all knew it even though Democrat spokespersons denied it. Worried that the negative connotations would affect their electability and their eyes glued to the capricious winds of public opinion, they invented new words for the old ideology such as progressivism and communitarianism. Apparently, the camouflage is no longer needed. The masks are off. They now openly call for the nationalization of private business, the establishment of universal entitlements and increased taxation to pay for them. Why worry about socialist labels?

Stevens believes the German defense industry needs to receive more business in order to fund investments in things even as mundane as computers or software since their technological equipment is at least one generation behind the global standards.

Even before the State Department issued its travel alert for Mexico, however, Interior Secretary Kempthorne had stated -- again, with almost no publicity -- that some of the lands administered by his department on the U.S. side of the Mexican border have become dangerous places where "families can no longer live or recreate without fear of coming across drug smugglers."

PDF taken directly from the ACLU's website- Whenever a homosexual or lesbian gives you that well practiced dumb look and innocently asks, "What gay agenda?" Call 'em on their feigned ignorance and show them this document which outlines the homosexual strategy to forward the twisted gay agenda.
Also, I saved a copy to TheSaloon's archives in the event the ACLU or their friends decide to disavow this 'agenda.' Here is the orginal to the ACLU:
http://www.aclu.org/pdfs/lgbt/camarriage_joint_20080609.pdf
And the copy saved here at TheSaloon.net that isn't going away. If you want, link to this article, Thanks!- Riley

David Brooks: The Two Obamas
by
Roland, the Gunslinger
on Sat 21 Jun 2008 03:27 PM EDT
God, Republicans are saps. They think that they’re running against some academic liberal who wouldn’t wear flag pins on his lapel, whose wife isn’t proud of America and who went to some liberationist church where the pastor damned his own country. They think they’re running against some naïve university-town dreamer, the second coming of Adlai Stevenson.

Obama’s Halo Seriously Flickering
by

Reformer, hopemonger — and politician. Barack Obama had a choice between keeping his word on public financing or reaping a windfall of hundreds of millions of dollars from unrestrained fund-raising, and in true American fashion, he chose the money. The decision is widely viewed as pragmatic — after all, he's trying to win an election here, not run an exhibition on consistency. But for those dazzled by promises of reform, Obama's reversal has the scales falling from their eyes — a recognition that he is, beneath all the hype, a politician who acts in his best interests.

Pakistan Times publisher Sheikh Najam Ali has been looking over his shoulder every day for a month since running an ad that proved controversial in the local Muslim community.
The ad, announcing a local Ahmadiyya celebration and describing the faith as Muslim, prompted death threats from anonymous callers, cancellations from advertisers and the removal of his papers in bulk from various distribution sites, he said

Confidence in Congress at 35 Year Low
by

on Sat 21 Jun 2008 12:14 AM EDT
Only 12 percent of Americans now have confidence in Congress, the lowest percentage in the 35 years that the Gallup Poll has tracked the number.
Americans now view Congress less favorably any of the 14 other American institutions tracked by Gallup, including big business, newspapers and health maintenance organizations.
Even as President Bush’s approval rating languishes at a record low, more than twice as many Americans have confidence in the presidency — 26 percent — than have confidence in Congress.
