Hearings for terror suspects before US military tribunals in Guantanamo are going ahead despite a Supreme Court ruling that affirmed detainees have a right to challenge their detention in a civilian court. Legal experts had described the high court's decision as the death knell of the special tribunals created by President George W. Bush and his Republican allies in Congress to try "war on terror" suspects. More>>>

Former UN secretary general Kofi Annan on Tuesday called for 'climate justice', saying that it was polluters who should pay for the effects of climate change, and not the poorest and most vulnerable. He said funding should be made available to help disadvantaged communities adapt to the effects of global warming as he urged for the international community to focus on adaptation measures. Somehow I doubt that he means to include the worst polluters like China and India - Roland More>>>

CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin, when asked about the Supreme Court’s upcoming ruling in the DC handgun ban case on Monday’s "American Morning," repeated the gun control lobby’s argument that "most federal courts and the Supreme Court has found is that really doesn't mean that you can possess a gun. It means that the military can possess a gun, that it's a collective right." She later made the usual liberal claim that the current Supreme Court is "conservative." More>>>

A new state law zeroes in on out-of-state online retailers who pay a small sales commission to New York-based Web sites hosting online ads. Under AB 9807, a mere Internet ad banner placed on a New York-based site triggers tax collection obligations under the new law. Needless to say, this new sales tax law has glaring constitutional problems. States are barred from placing undue burdens on interstate commerce. More>>>

Barack Hussein Obama, Demo presidential hopeful, recently revealed his disdain for middle America’s faith and values at a closed-door San Francisco fundraiser: “You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest... it’s not surprising they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” Our new T-shirt "Memo to Obama: I'm Bitterly Clinging to Guns and Religion (and I'll keep the rest of the Constitution, too" serves as a reminder that both religious freedom and the right to bear arms are fundamental American rights. Usually I wouldn't plug someone's products, but these guys are a non-prof that goes to support the troops- go buy a shirt, I did.- Riley More>>>

Watching The Open, the oldest and most prestigious tournament in golf, always makes me think about the level of my own play. It would at best be described as 'poor'. I'd hate to think how it would be described at worst, but let's just say there are only 2 friends who are prepared to play with me, I am that bad! More>>>

The price of retail gasoline could fall by half, to around $2 a gallon, within 30 days of passage of a law to limit speculation in energy-futures markets, four energy analysts told Congress on Monday. Testifying to the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management said that the price of oil would quickly drop closer to its marginal cost of around $65 to $75 a barrel, about half the current $135. Fabregas had not struck a spot-kick in anger for six years - not since he was trying to make it in Barca's youth team as a defensive midfielder. He had not started any of Spain's games in this European Championships and, as he went up to place the ball on the spot, he muttered to himself, "I have to show everyone". When he glanced up, the 21-year-old thought the goal "suddenly looked very small". More>>>

1. Barack Obama’s foreign policy is dangerous, naïve, and betrays a profound misreading of history. For at least the past five years, Democrats and liberals have said our standing in the international community has suffered from a “cowboy” or “go-it-alone” foreign policy. While politicians with favorable views of our president have been elected in Germany, Italy, France, and elsewhere, Barack Obama is giving cause to make our allies even more nervous. This past Sunday’s Washington Post reported, “European officials are increasingly concerned that Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign pledge to begin direct talks with Iran on its nuclear program without preconditions could potentially rupture U.S. relations with key European allies early in a potential Obama administration.” More>>>

In the past 17 years, no vehicle in America outsold the Ford F-150 on a monthly or yearly basis—not once. In May of this year, however, Honda moved more Civics and Accords and Toyota more Corollas and Camrys than Ford moved of its bestseller. This shift has less to do with a change in Americans’ vehicular preferences than the fact that trucks guzzle fuel, the cost of which has doubled in the past three years. More>>>

Unless you live in the local area where these crimes occurred, you probably haven't heard of them. Just imagine the media uproar if these were non-whites being attacked, raped, and murdered by Whites. But because the victims are White and perpetrators non-white, the stories rarely get more than only cursory coverage, usually on a back page and not much else is said. No hand-wringing editorials, no teary speeches, no demands for new laws... More>>>

The Supreme Court said Monday it won't stand in the way as the U.S. extends its security fence hundreds of miles along the border with Mexico, allowing building to proceed full-speed despite claims that it harms the environment and animals who live in the area. In a second case mixing national security and the environment - and a second dose of potentially good news for the Bush administration - More>>>
