View Article  Arctic Volcanoes Found Active at Unprecedented Depths; MSM unavailable for comment

Buried under thick ice and frigid water, volcanic explosions are shaking the Arctic Ocean floor at depths previously thought impossible..."The dispersal of the particles does not necessarily indicate that the eruptions were highly energetic, only that the eruption heated the surrounding seawater and the rising plume of heated water carried the lava fragments upwards where currents could disperse them..."

After only four years in his first Senate term (and before that, six years in the U.S. House), Republican Jim DeMint of South Carolina has begun to draw widespread attention and generate enthusiasm among conservatives. Voted the most conservative senator by the National Journal in 2006, DeMint is both a champion of the pro-life cause and other cultural issues as well as a fervent advocate of lower taxes, less federal spending and less intrusive government.

The Global Poverty Act of 2007 (S.2433) is coming up for a Senate vote sometime after the July 4 recess.

If passed, it will cost taxpayers $845,000,000,000 over the next 13 years, in addition to our current foreign aid expenditures.

And the best part is that it will be administered in conjunction with...brace yourselves...the United Nations. The same one of "Food-for-Oil" fame.

View Article  The Future of Gun Control

"The U.S. Supreme Court's 5-4 decision overturning Washington, D.C.'s handgun ban is the biggest gun rights ruling since the Second Amendment was ratified in 1791. The Court had not waded into this divisive issue since 1939, when it declared, "We cannot say that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to keep and bear" arms. But on Thursday the Court broke its silence to do just that, ruling for the first time that the Constitution confers an individual right to gun ownership beyond providing for "a well regulated Militia," as the amendment states. The Constitution does not permit "the absolute prohibition of handguns held and used for self-defense in the home," Justice Antonin Scalia, the court's arch-conservative, wrote in the majority opinion."

There's little doubt which side of the issue the author is on - Roland

View Article  Obama’s Efforts to Fund the Self-Described ‘Most Aggressive Group in the Gun Control Movement’

Yesterday I wrote that despite Barack Obama’s claims that he believes in the Second Amendment, is a friend to gun owners, never supported a complete ban on handguns (despite a questionnaire from early in his career stating he did), etc., those claims are hard to balance with his approval of Chicago’s effective ban on handguns. In Obama's entire time in the city, there’s no record of him ever objecting to it.

Obama’s audacity on this issue goes even further.

Obama was named a director of the Joyce Foundation in late 1994, and remained in that position until late 2002.

View Article  More Taxes under BHO? You Bet!

Mr. Obama angered liberals last year when he admitted that there was a "Social Security crisis." But at least Mr. Obama's base should be appeased now that his solution to the "crisis" is to soak the rich. One liberal columnist actually noted with glee the fact that this would take us back to top tax rates not seen since the 1970s.

Looks like Barry can't wait to emulate Jimmy Carter.

ANAGRAN's FR-1000

Lawrence Roberts is just another guy with the title:" Inventor of the Internet" in news articles. According to Wikipedia, he's the father of networking through data packets. And he's turned his attention to everyone's favorite data packet topic: Peer-to-Peer filesharing. He's established a company called Anagran, and says their devices can sort out which file transfers on the tubes are P2P, and -- you guessed it -- can throttle them in favor of other, more "high-priority" traffic.

On an otherwise quiet, muggy afternoon, two fan favorites shot life into the Buick Open Pro-Am at Warwick Hills on Wednesday.

Jolly long-driving John Daly walked the course along with Detroit's own Kid Rock in probably the closest real life circus pairing you'll ever see on the links. Hundreds followed the two along the tees and fairways as Daly delighted fans by signing autographs, joking with the amateurs and even pulling off a few trick shots of his own.

[The Lisbon treaty] cannot come into force. The EU cannot ignore its own rules. The Lisbon Treaty has been roundly and democratically rejected by Ireland, and it therefore cannot come into force. Any attempt to ignore this fact and make recourse to pressure and political manipulation to move the treaty forward would have disastrous consequences for Europe. […] Since the treaty must unanimously be ratified of all the member states of the EU and one of them has already rejected it, the final result of the ratification will be the same. With or without the Czech vote, the Treaty of Lisbon will not be ratified.
