Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon became Public Enemy No. 1 in New York on Tuesday, incurring the angry wrath of Yankees fans Tuesday after telling reporters he wanted to pitch the ninth inning of the All-Star Game instead of Yankees closer Mariano Rivera.
Papelbon was viciously booed during pre-game All-Star introductions. He also said that he incurred boos and vicious taunts during the red-carpet ride to Yankee Stadium, with his pregnant wife fearing for her safety.
