View Article  NYT: Obama is New and Not Improved

Senator Barack Obama stirred his legions of supporters, and raised our hopes, promising to change the old order of things. He spoke with passion about breaking out of the partisan mold of bickering and catering to special pleaders, promised to end President Bush’s abuses of power and subverting of the Constitution and disowned the big-money power brokers who have corrupted Washington politics.

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings.

And from the DailyKos:Markos Moulitsas, founder of the highly popular Daily Kos blog, denounced Obama for voting for the domestic surveillance legislation that provides limited immunity to telecommunication companies and for criticizing the left-wing activist group MoveOn.org.

"There is a line between 'moving to the center' and stabbing your allies in the back out of fear of being criticized. And, of late, he's been doing a lot of unnecessary stabbing, betraying his claims of being a new kind of politician," Moulitsas wrote on his site. "Not that I ever bought it, but Obama is now clearly not looking much different than every other Democratic politician who has ever turned his or her back on the base to prove centrist bona fides."

View Article  Real Independence Means Secure Borders
As we celebrate our nation’s independence, it is worth keeping in mind that real independence depends on having secure borders. A nation that cannot or will not protect itself from a massive and intentional invasion for the purpose of changing its population and politics is a nation that will not exist very long.

The world’s elites, the jetsetters, the United Nations types who keep babbling about being citizens of the world and scoff at notions of national sovereignty, who deride a requirement to speak the language of the nation, and talk of multiculturalism when clearly not all cultures are equal, are a minority. The rest of us live in a specific town or city, in a specific State, in what we proudly call the United States of America.

View Article  CNN: Obama remarks on Iraq prompts flip-flop charge

Obama on Thursday denied any suggestion that he's shying away from his proposed 16-month phased withdrawal of all combat troops from Iraq, calling it "pure speculation" and adding that his "position has not changed."

However, he told reporters questioning his stance that he will "continue to refine" his policies as warranted.

Ok, so 'refining' your position does not change that position and therefore is not flip-flopping? Ah yes, Barry's deluded supporters will probably swallow this one in its entirety.- Riley

View Article  Petty Officer Michael 'Mikey' Monsoor, RIP

Petty Officer Michael A. Monsoor was killed in battle in Iraq in September 2006, and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in April.

During the service, as Monsoor's coffin was taken from the hearse to the gravesite, Navy SEALs lined up in two columns. As the coffin passed, video shows each SEAL slapping down the gold Trident from his uniform and deeply embedding it in Monsoor's wooden coffin.

The slaps were reportedly heard across the cemetery.

Here's another one our heroes who went down in Iraq and gave his life so that his fellow sailors and soldiers, some Iraqi, could live. We honor his service and those like him who have given their lives to keep all of us safe.

View Article  MCCAIN: PUMP THIS!

Well, I guess we're all pretty relieved we didn't drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge back in 2002. What a disaster that would have been.

The vote on ANWR was almost entirely along partisan lines, with all Republicans, except a handful of "moderates," voting for drilling, and all Democrats, except a handful of sane Democrats like Zell Miller, voting against drilling.

John McCain opposed drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge because he polled soccer moms and found out they were against drilling. They thought it sounded too much like going to the dentist. McCain wanted to ensure that he remained beloved by the two pillars of his base: "centrists" and New York Times reporters.

View Article  Neo-communist /domestic terrorist organization BAMN posts lies to stop Civil Rights Initiative

WARNING- LANGUAGE

An initiative to ban racial and gender preferences, the Civil Rights Initiative, is being circulated in Arizona. It is similar to California's Prop. 109 which was spearheaded by Ward Connerly of the American Civil Rights Institute. It was also being circulated in Missouri and Oklahoma, but due to tactics by the opposition group BAMN (By Any Means Necessary), it failed to collect enough signatures to be placed on the ballot. Now, BAMN has flown its members to Arizona to stop the initiative there. They are attempting to block petition signature collecters from getting signatures in every method possible. Their methods are listed here and Sonoran Alliance has documented specific outrageous activity, including stealing candy from a blind vendor, interrupting and stopping public meetings, overturning furniture, lying to innercity African-Americans in order to trick them into coming by the busload to their protests, pelting Asians with soy sauce, and showing a knife threateningly to an initiative supporter.
