"Red Dawn" is one of my favourite movies ever. Yes, there's a bit of a cheese factor, but I love it for its unabashedly patriotic themes.

I've known John for 30 years and, although we disagree on many things politically, we agree on traditional values such as honor, loyalty, and professionalism that are neither Right nor Left no matter how much either wing tries to claim them. If there is a blacklist against John or others who share his beliefs, it is that of ignorance and hipness against intelligence and experience -- not Left against Right. (Makes for good video and blogging, though). Plus we agree that Kazan was a fink.
