View Article  Wild-eyed proponent of the AGW theory declares Obama has but 4 years to 'save the Earth'

The UK's Guardian Observer reports that long-time true believer in anthropogenic global warming, James Hansen, has seized upon the eve of Obama's inauguration to release yet another wild-eyed declaration on the state of the world's climate. Hansen has declared that Obama has merely four years to 'save the Earth'! That's right. To SAVE THE EARTH!! Thank heavens a presidential term just happens to be four years in length! It's no secret that we here at the Saloon don't buy the AGW theory because no one has yet explained how global warming has been shown to be occurring on other planets in this solar system, most notably Mars. There are no carbon emissions there as far as we know. Further, as any high school student knows, that when sunspot activity is high, as it was in the latter half of the nineties, the climate warms. Sunspot activity has been virtually non-existent for over a year now and we've seen severe cold snaps world-wide. Also, and this is the most important fact, it's been proven that carbon dioxide peaks lag periods of global warming in the ice core record, therefore carbon dioxide can not possibly cause global warming.

Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. "We cannot afford to put off change any longer," said Hansen. "We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead."

What utter claptrap. The Observer, being an unbiased reporter of news and views somehow failed to present the opinions of those scientists who hold valid scientific evidence that Hansen is incorrect about his assessments. One would think that a subject as serious as the climate would deserve some semblance of balance. None to be found here in this piece, however. That is unfortunate. Perhaps we expect too much from the Guardian Observer. -Roland

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' late season collapse cost Jon Gruden his job. Gruden and general manager Bruce Allen were fired on Friday after the Bucs lost their final four games following a 9-3 start and failed to make the playoffs for the fourth time in six years.
