View Article  Stunning Development: Obama Considers Reviving Military Commission System

The Justice Department acknowledged Saturday that the Obama administration is considering reviving the military commission system that the president criticized in the past for prosecuting terrorism suspects held at a detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

But the system would likely include changes, particularly ones to afford greater due process to the accused, the Justice Department said in a statement in response to a story by The New York Times.

The financial sector will make up a smaller part of the U.S. economy in the future as new regulations clamp down on "massive risk-taking," President Barack Obama said in an interview published on Saturday.

Obama, whose young administration has spearheaded a raft of reforms in the banking sector as part of efforts to tackle the financial crisis, said the industry's role in the United States would look different at the end of the current recession....Obama said some of the job-seekers who may normally have gone to the financial sector would shift to other areas of the economy, such as engineering.

View Article  "Beloved" Michelle hangs out with some youths; outshines hubby; Repubicans fawn

So complete is her image makeover that her 84 percent approval rating in a New York Times/CBS News poll this week exceeded President Barack Obama’s 68 percent.

Even Republicans are impressed. “Not only is she popular, she’s beloved,” said Steve Schmidt, a former senior aide to the 2008 Republican presidential candidate, Senator John McCain of Arizona. “She’s doing a fantastic job,” said Senator Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican.

(Yep, praise that real woman of the peeps, hangin' with the little people in her high-dollar sneaks. And the GOP wonders why they're losing support from its base. -Roland)

View Article  Condi Rice sticks it to the Stanford bleeding hearts

If ever you needed further proof of the "person of color" America really needs in charge right now, I urge you to watch this fabulous YouTube footage of the magnificent Condoleezza Rice being ambushed by left-liberal students at Stanford University with a series of "difficult" questions about torture, Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo Bay and US foreign policy under George W Bush.

Her coolness under fire is magnificent, but more impressive still is her refusal to duck the issues. "Sorry we have to leave", an official can be heard saying off camera, but Condi isn't going to take the easy way out: she wants to stand up for her principles and put the pantywaists in their place.

View Article  HR 45 to impose federal gun control

Well, one cannot be surprised to see this Bill come to the House of Representatives. When Democrats took control of congress in 2006 and began setting up their plans, waiting for a Democrat in the White House who would sign their legislation, those who were watching knew gun control would not be far behind any socialist spending spree they got away with. Now here it is: HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. So far, this legislation is flying under the radar, and Democrats in Congress are hoping that it remains that way.

This bill is an underhanded attempt to eliminate the constitutional right to ownership of Firearms. It would require that all gun owners be licensed. It requires a thumb print, a universal background check, a Passport quality photo.

View Article  Are we blind, nuts or just stupid?

There is an Orwellian aspect to the state of the American union today.

In George Orwell's chilling, foreboding account of a future society, in which a Big Brother government controls literally everything, ordinary individuals and families live in a regimented, classless, colorless world, afraid or unable to question, much less dissent.

Currently, since the Obama administration took office, we're living literally in future shock. Wild, huge decisions have been taken so swiftly. With no warning or permission from the people who elected him, the fledgling president has committed the American taxpayer to trillions of dollars of debt, in programs and investments, bailouts and takeovers, and left us stunned and strangely numb, as if we've been drugged.

The sheer enormity and scale of these moves has been so audacious as to seem nightmarish, fictional. A nation built on a solid foundation of fiscal responsibility, personal liberty, unlimited opportunity and representative government, in which the power flows to the head from the people, finds its situation suddenly switched – the power flowing only in reverse from the head to the dumbstruck, powerless people. And most seem unable to comprehend what's happening to them.
