View Article  "Out of Context": Part II

Thomas Sowell: As the mainstream media circles the wagons around Judge Sonia Sotomayor, to protect her from the consequences of her own words and deeds, its main arguments are distractions from the issue at hand. A CNN reporter, for example, got all worked up because Rush Limbaugh had used the word "racist" to describe the judge's words.

Since it has been repeated like a mantra that Judge Sotomayor's words have been "taken out of context," let us look at Rush Limbaugh in context. The cold fact is that Rush Limbaugh has not been nominated to sit on the highest court in the land, with a lifetime appointment, to have the lives and liberties of 300 million Americans in his hands.

Whatever you may think about his choice of words, those words and the ideas behind them do not change the law of the land. The words and actions of Supreme Court justices do. Anyone who doesn't like what Rush Limbaugh says can simply turn off the radio or change the station. But you cannot escape the consequences of Supreme Court decisions. Nor will your children or grandchildren.

View Article  Obama accidently posts list of sensitive US nuclear sites online

The 266-page document was published on May 6 as a transmission from President Barack Obama to the U.S. Congress. According to the document, the list was required by law and will be provided to the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Some of the pages are marked "highly confidential safeguards sensitive."...While there is security at the facilities, the list could presumably be useful for terrorists or anyone else who would like to harm the United States.

The document details the location of the nuclear sites and what is being done there...For instance, there are nuclear reactors at the Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, Pa. This facility is currently working on research into what happens when there are accidents with the nuclear reactors. The project started in 2006 and is expected to end in 2012, according to the document.

View Article  Video: Did Brian Williams bow to Barack Obama?

HotAir's Ed Morrissey: Drudge has this one, and Stormin’ Morning Java has the still. When I first saw it, I thought, “Nah. Brian Williams must have looked down. Americans don’t bow to their political leaders, and especially not the American media.” Wrong!

We made hay when Obama bowed to Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, and this feels almost as bad. Shouldn’t the American media have more of a sense of separation, observance, and skepticism? All right, all right, stop laughing.

Bonus question: If Williams bowed, what would Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews do to wish the President a good night? On second thought, I don’t want to know.

View Article  Venezuela Chavez says "Comrade" Obama more left-wing

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday that he and Cuban ally Fidel Castro risk being more conservative than U.S. President Barack Obama as Washington prepares to take control of General Motors Corp.

During one of Chavez's customary lectures on the "curse" of capitalism and the bonanzas of socialism, the Venezuelan leader made reference to GM's bankruptcy filing, which is expected to give the U.S. government a 60 percent stake in the 100-year-old former symbol of American might.

"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Chavez joked on a live television broadcast.

View Article  Toby Harnden: Barack Hussein Obama: US "one of the largest Muslim countries in the world"

It is important to note that "if you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world".

So says President Barack Obama. Or I should say: Barack Hussein Obama.

That's right: Barack Hussein Obama. Say it proud. Say it out loud. The middle moniker that dared not speak its name during the election campaign is now front and centre of the US president's attempt to woo the Muslim world, the theme of his visits to Riyadh on Wednesday and Cairo on Thursday.

Petrified of the potential political fallout of being branded a Muslim, Candidate Obama - a practicing Christian - never used the name "Hussein" and its use was frowned upon as a forbidden code for the nutty accusation that he was some kind of Islamic Manchurian candidate.

No more. To say Barack Hussein Obama - BHO for short - now appears to be the height of political correctness.

View Article  Jake Tapper: The Emergence of President Obama's Muslim Roots

Throughout Obama's presidential campaign, he and his handlers denied his muslim connections, claiming that he was, in fact, a Christian. The election is over now and, five months into his term, an overheard statement is made by one of his staff exhorting his muslim connections. Jake Tapper reports.
